Bread & Butterfly- Atlanta, GA.
One is immediately transported to the streets of Toulouse from the minute they step inside Bread and Butterfly. Sadly, I have not yet visited France but I’ve seen enough Sex and The City. You know the episode where Carrie goes to “surprise” Big?? So, I think I can gather the vibe.
The lighting inside is romantic level dim with candles. The jazz playlist corresponds with the temperament of the staff. laid back and lovely. My friends and I sat outside on the heated veranda, which has not so good lighting. I say this because we attempted to take a photo together and we all looked like lifeless burlap sacks. BUT THATS BESIDE THE POINT. You want a set the mood type of picture, you sit indoors.
Now the food! The menu and wine list is minimal. This is a positive use of the word minimal. It is not overwhelming and presents the perfect amount of variety.
We started with the Artichoke Vinaigrette.... I know this sounds like a side of salad dressing, but it is SO much more. It is whole, steamed, pull-apart and dip artichoke. Im OBSESSED with these and I think more restaurants should offer them. This one however, caught me a little off guard cause it was served cold. What??? Yeah, no thanks. But we still devoured it. As you do when you invest in the flavor vs. temperature of what your eating. Am I making sense?
We then moved on to the entree round of girls night. I ordered the half chicken. This is rare for me. I usually always order a fish dish du jour, but typically when a chicken dish is presented as one of the three options you hope it is done right. Despite the false advertising of “half “ a chicken (the portion seemed much smaller), it was incredible! Plus, I need to calm down with my portion expectations these days. It was served over roasted root vegetables and Harissa, Can we all agree root vegetables do not get enough credit?? Thats where all the flavor is. Well done b & b.
This time we skipped desert. We instead chose individual aperitifs, but I will be returning for brunch and a sweet treat.
Follow Bread and Butterfly on Instagram for a salivating vacation. We went on Wednesday night and had no trouble getting in but they do take reservations if you need to ease your dinging out anxiety.
Oh and Bread and BUTT will show up on your bank statement so have fun explaining that in your alibi.
