Yesterday evening I took a shopping cart down the frozen aisles of Trader Joes and literally grabbed one of everything. Then I woke up.
We all have those nights after a long day where we can no longer put off grocery shopping. But, we do put if off, and somehow we scavenge enough substance. Often thanks to freezer food.
Protein, veggies, fruit, emergency snacks, and sweet treats are must-haves in the freezer.
My Favorite Freezer Goods:
Salmon Patties- Alaskan Salmon Burgers from Costco. They are DELICIOUS, especially with some eggs.
Ground Turkey- A pound of ground turkey is the best emergency protein. Throw it in with some veggies or whip up some meatballs.
Cauliflower Rice- I am obsessed and hate running out.
Veggies-I recently froze a ziplock of zucchini noodles or a bag of broccoli. Just freeze something green okay? It will make you feel better about your hectic lifestyle.
Bananas- Peel ripe bananas and freeze. Perfect for smoothies.
Dark Chocolate/Chocolate Chips- Craving something sweet? Want to bake some cookies? BOOM.
Evol. Frozen Burritos- These are the best $2.50 I have ever spent. They are perfect for an emergency lunch, late night snack, or a meal when the man is out of town. SHHH.
Emergency Pizza- No explanation needed.
Waffles- I just love waffles. Frozen waffles are the best for a grab and go breakfast. I buy gluten-free. Spread a little jam on there with feta cheese and egg whites?!? Wrap it up and run out the door. GOURMET GIRL ON THE GO.
Tater Tots. -I’ve recently discovered how much I love these crispy, little potato puffs. These are mainly for an emergency long weekend night, delicious treat. Not to mention, nostalgic from my elementary days. You’ll be glad you have them.

Next time on Almost Balanced Foodie…
Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. And what it does to the body. And the bowels.
I may be getting a bit personal. I know you can’t wait.
